The Masks We Wear

I have been reading some terrible poetry lately, it made me feel like my terrible poetry wasn't so terrible after all.

This one is a list really, more of a list of emotions than a poem, check it out. It's about perceptions, the psychological masks we wear and enlightenment.

Masks

Hmm… which mask shall I wear today?
The mask of anger?
The mask of desire?
The mask of pride?
The mask of greed?
The mask of jealousy?
The mask of ignorance?
The mask of hatred?
The mask of envy?
The mask of spite?
The mask of fear?
The mask of pain?
The mask of suffering?
The mask of perversion?
The mask of depression?
The mask of depravity?
The mask of hope?
The mask of love?
The mask of compassion?
The mask of patience?
The mask of wisdom?
The mask of generosity?
The mask of humbleness?
The mask of discipline?
The mask of self-control?
The mask of denial?
The mask of abstinence?
The mask of pleasure?
The mask of fame?
The mask of wealth?
The mask of poverty?
The mask of insanity?
The mask of ceaseless thoughts?
The mask of philosophy?
The mask of knowing?
The mask of the guru?
The mask of death?
The mask of life?
Or should I leave it off for once and look at the world purely?
Allowing the radiance of the universe to flow into me?
Expanding clarity forever unfolding in the moment,
An endless pattern of glory and meaning,
Complex, magnificent meaning that has no meaning-
Other than within the second that it exists,
Other than the expression and dissolution of itself,
Clear seeing brings insight into the true nature of reality,
And with it endless energy and bliss,
Which mask will you wear today?
